Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) has delivered a major boost to India’s maritime strength by handing over a guided missile frigate to Indian Navy, along with an anti-submarine warfare vessel and a survey ship.
This latest delivery highlights India’s push toward indigenous naval shipbuilding and strengthens its operational readiness across multiple domains. The centerpiece of the delivery is INS Dunagiri, a guided missile frigate built under Project 17A.
Designed with stealth features and advanced combat systems, the warship is equipped to handle air, surface, and underwater threats. It carries supersonic missiles and modern sensors, making it a critical asset for frontline naval operations. The addition of this guided missile frigate enhances India’s ability to maintain dominance in the Indian Ocean region.

Alongside it, GRSE delivered INS Agray, an anti-submarine warfare shallow water craft built for coastal defense. It is fitted with sonar systems, torpedoes, and rocket launchers to detect and neutralize underwater threats. The vessel is designed for agility and precision in shallow waters, where submarine activity is harder to track.
The third vessel, INS Sanshodhak, is a large survey ship used for hydrographic mapping. It will support navigation safety, port development, and strategic planning by mapping seabeds and maritime routes with high accuracy.
This triple delivery underscores GRSE’s growing role in India’s defense manufacturing sector and aligns with the government’s focus on Aatmanirbhar Bharat. By strengthening combat capability, underwater surveillance, and maritime mapping in one move, the Indian Navy is better equipped to respond to evolving security challenges.
