A report suggests that the increased demand for the export of Apple iPhones can trigger the manufacturing numbers in India, benefitting the manufacturers at large. Apple has increased its iPhone production in India to meet the demands of the US. The June quarter alone is on track to deliver iPhones worth USD 12-14 billion from India.
Apple CEO Tim Cook has mentioned that the company is expecting the June quarter-produced phones to be majorly sold in the US. The production of iPads, MacBooks, Apple Watches, and AirPods will be made in Vietnam. Apple has tied partnerships with Foxconn and Tata Electronics factories in India to meet the demand for production.
One of the analysts has mentioned “Over 11 million iPhones were sold in the April-June quarter of 2024 with an average selling price (ASP) of USD 1,100, which means the value is USD 12.1 billion. While this remains Apple’s weakest quarter typically, the demand in terms of value will be higher than USD 12 billion” while another analyst highlighted, "The April-June quarter is also on track to be a bumper quarter for Apple in India." Apple would be able to meet 100 percent of its local demand and 80 percent of its foreign demand with USD 40 billion worth of production.
Apple has been shipping India-made iPhones to different countries like the Netherlands, Italy, Japan, Turkey, the UAF, the Czech Republic and the UK. In the year 2024 alone, 40-45 million iPhones were produced among which 14-15 million were exported to the US, 12 million in the Indian market and another 13 million to different international markets.
The total Apple iPhone production value in India will be doubling exports from USD 17.5 billion to between USD 32-35 billion, with the domestic market being projected accounting to approximately USD 5-8 billion.
