The Japanese multinational automotive manufacturing company, Toyota, has renamed its only electric vehicle. The company's newly launched bZ4X EV models will be renamed as bZ models for the year 2026. Toyota also revealed the redesigned version of the vehicle on Tuesday in the US. The new Toyota bZ will be going through major redesigning after receiving lacking reviews from customers. Therefore, the new version will not only be available with a new name but also with new upgraded features.
The new Toyota bZ will be equipped with Tesla’s North American Charging System. This enables its driver’s to gain access to fast charging throughout American charging systems. Toyota’s car will be charging to 80 percent from 10 percent in just 30 minutes.
bZ will also be receiving structural restyling, both internally and externally, to gain the top position in the competitive field of the US EV manufacturing industry. EV sales in the US have spiked by 11.4 percent this year, with nearly 3,00,000 units purchased in Q4.
The previous version bZ4X, was first launched in the year 2022. But these cars didn’t see much profit, due to consumers' opinion of cars being compliant to use. With EV’s many problematic user difficulties, the car saw total sales of 35,000 units in the year 2022. In the year 2024, the sale numbers dropped to 18,570 sales.
The new renaming and redesign has gathered attention due to its robust change towards user compatibility. The new designs of BZ are expected to cause tighter competition between Tesla’s Model Y and General Motors' Chevrolet Equinox and Blazer EVs.
