India’s manufacturing industry is entering a new phase with rapid growth in electronics production. The country’s electronics manufacturing has grown sevenfold to reach INR 13 lakh crore.
Global companies are also expanding their manufacturing operations across India. Google is reportedly looking to deepen Pixel smartphone production in the country.
Samsung has opened a new Pune facility for AI data center cooling systems. These developments show India’s growing role in global electronics manufacturing.
They are also creating opportunities for investment, exports, local suppliers and jobs. Together, these moves highlight the changing face of India’s technology manufacturing sector.
India’s electronics manufacturing has grown sevenfold over the past 12 years. Electronics production has now reached INR 13 lakh crore, according to Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Electronics exports have also crossed INR 4 lakh crore. The growth highlights India’s rising position in global electronics production.
Google could deepen its smartphone manufacturing operations in India. Reports suggest the company may move all Pixel production out of China by 2027. India could become a key production hub for the company. The move could further strengthen India’s growing smartphone manufacturing base.
“Google is moving Pixel manufacturing beyond China as part of its China+1 strategy, with Vietnam and India becoming key manufacturing hubs. India has an advantage because smartphone manufacturing and exports are already well established, with Apple exporting iPhones to the US, UK and other markets. Vietnam remains a strong competitor, with Google also expanding its manufacturing capacity there,” said Prachir Singh, Senior Analyst at Counterpoint Research.
Samsung’s FläktGroup has expanded its manufacturing presence in India with a new facility in Pune. The plant will produce cooling systems for AI data centers. The facility comes as demand for data centers continues to grow. It also highlights new manufacturing opportunities linked to India’s expanding technology infrastructure.
