India and Bahrain have taken their India-Bahrain strategic partnership to a new level.
S Jaishankar wrapped up his two-day Bahrain visit with a series of high-level meetings aimed at expanding cooperation across several sectors.
The visit reflects India's growing India Gulf strategy, with New Delhi focusing on stronger political, economic, and people-to-people ties across the Gulf region.
The India-Bahrain strategic partnership remained at the center of discussions throughout the visit, highlighting the importance both countries place on their long-standing relationship.
The External Affairs Minister met Bahrain's top leadership, held talks with his counterpart, and interacted with members of the Indian community. His visit forms part of an 11-day diplomatic tour covering Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, New York, and Brussels.
During the visit, Jaishankar had an audience with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in the presence of Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who also serves as Bahrain's Prime Minister. He also met Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.
The minister conveyed greetings from President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi while reaffirming India's commitment to strengthening bilateral ties. He also thanked Bahrain's leadership for ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of the Indian community in Bahrain, which continues to play an important role in the Kingdom's growth.
Jaishankar later held bilateral talks with Bahrain's Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani. The leaders reviewed existing bilateral relations and discussed new opportunities to expand cooperation in different sectors.
The two ministers also exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual interest, reflecting the growing strategic understanding between both countries.
India's engagement with Bahrain is no longer limited to energy cooperation. The latest discussions focused on strengthening partnerships in several areas that are becoming increasingly important for both nations.
Jaishankar also congratulated Bahrain on becoming a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2026-2027 term. The move opens new opportunities for India and Bahrain to work together on regional and global issues.
The visit also underlines India's broader effort to deepen engagement with Gulf countries, which have become key partners in trade, investment, energy security, and regional stability.
