NTPC Ltd., signed an initial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat to explore the scope of both conventional and non-conventional energy sectors.
The deal was signed at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Mehsana, in the presence of Bhupendrabhai Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat; Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of New & Renewable Energy; Kanubhai Desai, Minister for Finance, Energy and Petrochemicals, Gujarat; and other senior officials.
NTPC, the largest integrated power utility in India, is presently responsible for almost one-fourth of the total electricity consumed in India. The company has an installed capacity of more than 83 GW, and its capacity under construction amounts to 30.9 GW, out of which 13.3 GW is from renewable sources.
The corporation has the prospect of attaining 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, which will contribute significantly to India’s clean energy target.
The NTPC portfolio is diversified between thermal, hydro, solar, and wind power plants. The company is gearing up to fulfill the power demand in a reliable, affordable, and sustainable manner all over the country.

It is worth mentioning that the company is gradually shifting from the traditional sector to the renewable sector by venturing into different domains such as electric mobility, battery storage, pumped hydro storage, waste to energy, nuclear power, and green hydrogen production.
The MoU with Gujarat is a manifestation of the collaborative energy innovation approach that NTPC has steadfastly pursued and which is a major contributor to India’s capacity for traditional and renewable energy that have been the driver of sustainable growth in line with national energy and climate objectives.
