Shipping Corporation of India said the LPG tanker Nanda Devi is set to arrive at Kandla Port in Gujarat on Tuesday, carrying around 46,000 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas.
The arrival of the LPG tanker Nanda Devi comes at a time when global energy supply chains remain under pressure due to ongoing tensions in West Asia.
The Chief Officer of the vessel confirmed that the mission was coordinated by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways along with the Shipping Corporation of India. Both the Indian Navy and the Iranian Navy supported the tanker’s safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical and sensitive shipping route.

"I would like to thank everyone who was involved in this operation of crossing the Strait of Hormuz. The initiative was taken by the Indian Ministry, Shipping Corporation of India, with the help of the Indian Navy and the Iranian Navy. Vessel transmitted the Hormuz safely, now it is enroute to Kandla, Gujarat and will be serving a huge amount of LPG, 46,000 metric tonnes. This will help in the worldwide crisis of LPG. We will continue to serve the LPG in future also," he said.
This marks the second successful LPG movement into India through the Strait in recent days. Earlier, the LPG carrier Shivalik reached Mundra Port with about 40,000 metric tonnes of cargo, strengthening domestic supply.
Officials also confirmed that another Indian-flagged vessel, Jag Laadki, carrying 81,000 tonnes of Murban crude oil from the UAE, is safely heading toward India. Authorities added that all Indian seafarers in the Persian Gulf remain safe, with no incidents reported in the past 24 hours.
