JSW steel recorded consolidated crude steel production of 24.75 lakh tonnes in January 2026 giving it a consistent operational performance amid the planned shutdowns and capacity upgradation exercises in some of the major facilities.
The year-on-year production growth at the company operations in India was at the margin. But the overall capacity utilization was affected by the fact that Blast Furnace 3 (BF3) at the Vijayanagar plant was still out of use since September 2025 as part of a capacity improvement programme.
By the end of Q4 FY26, the furnace is supposed to be commissioned. In the quarter, capacity utilization of the Indian operations was at 93% without incorporating the BF3 capacity and at 85% incorporating the temporarily unavailable furnace, which implies that there is very high underlying operating efficiency of the remaining asset base.
The production at the Ohio plant of the JSW steel in the United States fell in the month, owing to a planned outage to upgrade the casters between the 15 th December, 2025 and the 1 st January 2026. These upgrades will be directed towards product quality, throughput, and reliability in the long-term at the facility.

The company ensured steady levels of consolidated production despite these temporary losses associated with strategic maintenance and expansion programs. JSW Steel is still working on enhancing its manufacturing presence by increasing its capacity, upgrading its operations, and investing in technology to meet the increasing demands both locally and internationally.
The company has a disciplined attitude towards asset modernization and expansion of capacity which will place it at a vantage point to grow over a long term in addition to its ability to remain efficient with respect to its operations and competitiveness within a dynamic global steel industry environment.
