India’s ambition to become a global electronic powerhouse is now backed up by Google, as the American tech giant is exploring investors across AI infrastructure and manufacturing for building drones and servers in India.
While headlines are focusing on Google’s USD 15 billion AI Data centre Project in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, a transformative deal may be blooming between the company and New Delhi.
Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnav, on a post on X quoted,”
"Google is exploring investments in India across AI infrastructure and the manufacture of servers and drones,” sharing a glimpse of the meeting with Google executives.
The timing of this post is notable as it came out just before Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced a USD 185 billion addition in the total capital expenditure of the company, focusing on AI infrastructure. While addressing the Google Cloud Next 2026 summit in April, Pichai said that more than half of the company’s resources dedicated to machine learning will be spent on its cloud business.

Meanwhile, Google has also announced a USD 15 billion investment plan in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, to establish a gigawatt-scale AI ecosystem. In April, Google made a strategic entry into India’s AI landscape by partnering with AdaniConneX and Nxtra by Airtel at Vishakhapatnam. This project also includes a 1 GW hyper-scale AI data centre, and the Andhra Pradesh government has already allocated 600 acres of land in Turluvada, Rambilli and Adavivaram for the same.
The Visakhapatnam deal, along with having Google manufacture drones and servers domestically, would be a significant milestone in India’s AI native future. Google Cloud CEO, Thomas Kurian, has earlier described the Vishakhapatnam project as “Together we are laying the foundation for Viksit Bharat, and opening new doors for economic opportunities nationwide.”
