Walmart India sourcing has crossed USD 40 billion, marking a strong milestone in the company’s global supply chain expansion from India.
The update underlines the growing role of Indian manufacturers and exporters in Walmart’s international operations, as the US retail giant continues to scale its sourcing network.
Walmart Inc President and CEO John Furner said the company is focused on strengthening supplier capability and improving quality and compliance standards.
“We have already sourced more than USD 40 billion in goods from India and are focused on strengthening entrepreneur and supplier capabilities, raising compliance and quality standards, and helping scale manufacturing so more Indian businesses are ready to export,” said Walmart Inc President and CEO John Furner.

Furner, who is on his first visit to India after taking charge earlier this year, is reinforcing Walmart’s long-term engagement with the country’s export ecosystem. The company recently hosted the second edition of its Growth Summit in New Delhi, which brought together MSMEs, export-ready businesses, digital-first brands, and supply chain partners to explore opportunities across domestic and global markets.
Through its Vriddhi initiative, Walmart has supported more than 1.15 lakh entrepreneurs. The program helps small businesses modernize operations, improve manufacturing capabilities, and expand into global markets by strengthening compliance and quality systems.
“This work is expanding economic opportunity and connecting innovative businesses in India with customers around the world,” he said.
The Walmart India sourcing achievement also aligns with the company’s broader goal of sourcing USD 10 billion worth of goods annually from India by 2027. Walmart highlighted that its supplier partnerships in India, built since the 1990s, have played a key role in positioning the country as a global manufacturing hub.
The summit followed earlier regional editions in Jaipur and Coimbatore in partnership with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade and the Federation of Indian Export Organisations. Walmart aims to support 1.7 lakh MSMEs by 2028 as part of its long-term capacity-building push.
