Uttar Pradesh defence corridors are attracting investments worth over ₹35,000 crore investment, giving a major manufacturing boost to India’s defence manufacturing and aerospace sector. The growing investment activity is strengthening the state’s position as an emerging hub for indigenous defence production under the “Make in India” and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
Speaking at the NorthTech Symposium in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the six defence corridor nodes located in Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Agra, Aligarh, and Chitrakoot are steadily evolving into key centres for aerospace manufacturing. These hubs are expected to support the production of missiles, drones, ammunition, defence textiles, aerospace components, and precision engineering systems.
Lucknow has become a major centre for heavy defence manufacturing and BrahMos missile production, while Kanpur is focusing on ammunition and defence textile manufacturing. Aligarh is emerging as a hub for small arms production, and Agra and Chitrakoot are expanding their aerospace and precision engineering capabilities.

The state government has also introduced industrial incentives and expanded its land bank to attract both domestic and global investors. Officials noted that Uttar Pradesh already has a strong MSME ecosystem, with millions of small and medium enterprises contributing to sectors such as engineering, electronics, and hardware manufacturing.
Technology and innovation are also becoming an important part of the state’s industrial growth strategy. The government is working with IIT Kanpur to establish a Centre of Excellence for drones, while startups working in artificial intelligence, robotics, semiconductors, and drone technology are adding momentum to the state’s manufacturing ecosystem.
Recent developments include land allocation to Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) in Chitrakoot for manufacturing advanced radar and missile systems. At the same time, the BrahMos missile production facility in Lucknow has started operations, further strengthening India’s domestic defence manufacturing capabilities.
With rising investments, policy support, and expanding industrial infrastructure, Uttar Pradesh’s defence corridors are expected to play a significant role in boosting India’s self-reliance in defence manufacturing while creating jobs and attracting long-term industrial growth.
