Waaree Energies has signed a long-term green hydrogen agreement with Zero Footprint Industries (ZFI), marking a fresh push into India’s clean energy market.
The company announced a 15-year Electrolyser-as-a-Service (EAAS) deal to deploy a 2.5 MW alkaline electrolyser in Uttar Pradesh, strengthening its position in the fast-growing green hydrogen space.
Under the agreement, Waaree will build, own, install, and operate the electrolyser, allowing ZFI to produce green hydrogen and oxygen without heavy upfront investment. The plant is expected to generate around 4.1 million Nm³ of green hydrogen and 2 million Nm³ of green oxygen annually. The output will help industries such as mint oil processing, chemicals, steel, and pharmaceuticals shift away from grey hydrogen.

The first project is scheduled to be commissioned within seven months. Stack delivery is expected by the second quarter of FY27, with commercial operations likely to begin in the third quarter of FY27. The project is backed by the Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Development Agency under the state’s Green Hydrogen Policy.
Alongside the initial deployment, Waaree and ZFI have signed a memorandum of understanding to scale capacity up to 50 MW in phases across northern India. This expansion will follow the same service-based model, aimed at accelerating green hydrogen adoption while ensuring steady, long-term revenue visibility for Waaree.
