UP Defense Industrial Corridor received a major push today as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath allocated 75 hectares of land to Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) at the Chitrakoot node.
The move marks a key step in strengthening the UP Defense Industrial Corridor and accelerating industrial growth in Bundelkhand.
BEL will invest around Rs 562.5 crore to set up a modern defense manufacturing unit focused on advanced radar and air defense systems. The project is expected to generate more than 300 jobs in its initial phase, while also boosting high-tech manufacturing capabilities in the region.
Calling it a milestone, the Chief Minister said, “This initiative will play an important role in establishing Uttar Pradesh as a strong and reliable identity in the field of defense manufacturing, while also accelerating the overall economic and industrial development of the Bundelkhand region.”

He further added, “Under this project, Bharat Electronics Limited will establish an advanced manufacturing unit for the production of state-of-the-art radar and air defense systems with an investment of approximately Rs 562.5 crore.”
“This initiative will not only strengthen high technology-based production in the defense sector but will also provide a new direction to the expansion of industrial efficiency and technical capabilities in the state.”
The Chitrakoot node is gaining traction as a strategic defense manufacturing hub due to its strong logistics connectivity and location advantage. Officials believe it will attract further investment, drive employment, and support long-term industrial expansion.
The development also reflects a broader push toward balancing regional growth, combining Chitrakoot’s cultural identity with modern industrial progress.
