Bharat Dynamics (BDL) is stepping up big time to meet the growing defense manufacturing demand in India.
The company announced that two new manufacturing facilities in Telangana and Uttar Pradesh are almost ready and will open soon, with production to begin in FY27. This expansion comes as BDL works to boost capacity and deliver on a massive order pipeline.
The new BDL manufacturing facilities are being set up at Ibrahimpatnam in Hyderabad, Telangana, and in Jhansi within the Uttar Pradesh Defense Corridor. The Ibrahimpatnam unit will house eight assembly lines to support new weapon systems and future needs of the Indian Armed Forces. It will also include advanced testing infrastructure such as rocket motor testing and warhead penetration testing facilities to ensure high quality and performance.

The Jhansi facility will focus on producing propellants to serve rising defense demand. This site will also handle bulk production of grad rockets and support in‑house research and development of new energetics. Together, these new units are designed to strengthen India’s defense production capacity, improve operational efficiency, and broaden BDL’s product lineup in line with changing defense requirements.
BDL says this expansion aligns with its current order book of about Rs 26,000 crore. The company also expects additional orders worth Rs 15,000 crore in FY27, driven by increased defense procurement and indigenization efforts. These new facilities are a strategic move to support India’s push for self‑reliant defense manufacturing.
Despite its growth plans, BDL reported that its standalone net profit fell 50.4% to Rs 72.92 crore in Q3 FY26, with revenue from operations down 31.4% to Rs 548.56 crore compared to the prior year. Still, the company’s investment in new infrastructure underlines its long‑term focus on scaling up for future defense needs.
