TVS Motor Company has taken the lead in India’s electric two-wheeler sales, marking a major shift in the fast-growing EV market. In calendar year 2025, TVS sold 298,881 electric two-wheelers, posting a solid 35% year-on-year growth.
Ola Electric had a tough year. The company achieved a sale of 199,318 units, which is a 51% decline of the level of the previous year, and it decreased in the rankings.
The decline of Ola demonstrates the stress that the new companies experience in the realities of increasing competition and rising customer expectations.

In sum, the sales of electric two-wheeler increased by approximately 11.4 percent in India in 2025 to nearly 1.28 million units. Bajaj Auto was second with 269,847 units and third with 200,797 units was Ather Energy. These findings reveal the strength of the traditional manufacturers due to extensive dealer networks and quality service.
According to experts, TVS has been able to ascend due to good performance of its products, attractive prices, and good after sales services, particularly its famous electric scooters. The decline in Ola indicates the declining retail demand and intense competition in a fast maturing market.
Although the level of growth was lower compared to previous years, electric two-wheelers will continue to play a central role in the EV transition in India. The competition in the future between manufacturers would be in the new launches, less costs and better penetration in the market, as cities and small towns compete.
