Tata Power has signed an agreement with Suzlon Energy to develop, build, and supply 700 megawatt (MW) wind turbines in Andhra Pradesh, the state's first wind power project since 2019. The ₹6,000-crore initiative is a part of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd's (TPREL) 7 gigawatt (GW) renewable energy plan unveiled with the state government in March 2025.
The project, to be constructed in the Anantapur district, will employ Suzlon's S144 wind turbine generators, which completely comply with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy's updated RLMM (Revised List of Models and Manufacturers) guidelines for domestic sourcing of major components. Turbines will be manufactured at Suzlon's rebuilt factory in Andhra Pradesh, which went back into production in 2024.
Once operational, the project will be integrated into the central grid and will produce 1,840 million units of clean energy every year. The project will be developed under Andhra Pradesh's Integrated Clean Energy (ICE) Policy, which aims at over 160 GW of renewable energy capacity with an investment proposal of ₹10 trillion.

The 7 GW project comprises solar, wind, and hybrid plans, with or without storage, and will attract investment of ₹49,000 crore. In line with the March agreement, TPREL will perform work on development and conduct feasibility studies, to be facilitated by the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) in evacuation infrastructure and site identification.
The ICE Policy, inaugurated in October 2024 by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, has drawn huge renewable energy investments and established Andhra Pradesh squarely in the leadership of India's clean energy revolution.
