As part of the collaboration, a green hydrogen fuelling station will be set up at VOC Port by NGEL along with hydrogen-powered internal combustion engine trucks for port operations. It is expected that fossil fuel-based energy will be gradually replaced with clean alternatives, strengthening decarbonization efforts and energy security.
NTPC has already run several green hydrogen projects, including the blending project at Surat, Gujarat, running for more than two years, and mobility pilots in Leh (Ladakh), Greater Noida (Uttar Pradesh), Bhubaneshwar (Odisha), and Kandla Port (Gujarat). NGEL is establishing a green hydrogen hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, and is targeting 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032 with integrated energy storage.
