In a major industrial boost, Praxair India has committed to invest ₹210 crore over the next three years to establish liquid oxygen and nitrogen production units in Karnataka. The commitment was formalized through an MoU signed this Thursday, as announced by Karnataka’s Large & Medium Industries Minister MB Patil.
Patil revealed that investment activities will begin in the current financial year itself. He assured that the state government will provide robust support — including land allocation, “single‑window clearances and infrastructure facilitation.”
The plan not only underscores a significant expansion in industrial gases and related manufacturing infrastructure in Karnataka but also reflects a broader push to enhance supply‑chain resilience in critical gases — oxygen and nitrogen. These gases are vital for multiple sectors ranging from healthcare to heavy industries, and the new plant will help meet rising demand efficiently.

During his official UK visit with a government delegation, Patil also met representatives of Helix Geospace, known for its space‑ and defense‑grade helical antenna technology, and Oxford Space Systems (OSS), a reputed satellite antenna manufacturer. He said OSS has been asked to submit a detailed note outlining its specific requirements and the support it seeks from the state.
In addition, Patil met India’s High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, to explore broader industrial collaboration between Karnataka and the United Kingdom. The discussions also touched on establishing a ‘UK Tech Park’ in the proposed KWIN City.
This new investment and the outreach to aerospace and defense firms signal Karnataka’s aim to emerge as a strategic hub for industrial gases and high‑tech manufacturing.
