A ₹417 crore electronics manufacturing cluster (EMC 2.0) in Uttar Pradesh was sanctioned by the government on Wednesday. The EMC 2.0, which will be built on 206.4 acres by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) and would be located in Sector 10 close to Jewar Airport, is anticipated to start operations in May. With an anticipated completion date of January 2028, the EMC 2.0 is anticipated to generate approximately 15,000 employment and ₹2,500 crore in investments.
“It is fully in line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting manufacturing in India. It reflects the government’s sharp focus on job creation and building a Viksit (developed) Bharat,” Information Technology (IT) Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said.
According to the approval document reviewed by HT, the ₹417 crore authorized by the government does not include the cost of land, but it does contain ₹144 crore in central financial help from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). YEIDA is responsible for funding the remaining sum. With an investment of ₹800 crore, Havells is the project's anchor. For the production of household products such fans, air conditioning , coolers, lights, switchgear, cables, etc., the company would be given 50 acres. The project will include amenities like a convention center, a skill development center, and a three-story hostel complex.
