KPI Green Energy has taken another major step in expanding its renewable energy portfolio. The company is commissioning 200 MW (AC) / 269 MW (DC) of a large-scale solar project in Gujarat.
With this, it is also securing regulatory approval for a 100 MW (AC) / 128 MW (DC) project in Maharashtra.
The dual milestone strengthens the company's presence across two key renewable energy markets and reinforces its execution capabilities in utility-scale solar infrastructure.
The solar project in Gujarat is part of a larger 300 MW (AC) / 405 MW (DC) grid-connected ground-mounted installation being developed for Coal India Limited (CIL). At the same time, the company has received charging permission from the Chief Electrical Inspector, Nagpur, for its MAHAGENCO project, allowing it to move ahead with operations in Maharashtra.
KPI Green Energy said the partially commissioned capacity is part of the 300 MW solar project being executed on an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) basis for Coal India Limited.
The project is located at GIPCL's Solar Park in Khavda, Gujarat, and has been certified by the Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA). Khavda has emerged as one of India's largest renewable energy hubs, with several large solar and wind developments underway.
The company secured the EPC contract in 2024 after Coal India won the project under a Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) tender. Coal India had subsequently floated a tender for project execution, which was awarded to KPI Green.

In a separate regulatory filing, KPI Green announced that it has received charging permission from the Chief Electrical Inspector, Nagpur, for its 100 MW (AC) / 128 MW (DC) grid-connected ground-mounted solar project being developed for the Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MAHAGENCO).
The project is located at Ramthi, Narkhed, in Nagpur district and is being executed on a turnkey EPC basis.
KPI Green had earlier received the Letter of Intent (LoI) for the project under MAHAGENCO's larger 600 MW solar program, which spans multiple locations across Maharashtra. The project was awarded under the state's Renewable Energy Bundling Scheme, where the company secured contracts to develop 600 MW of solar capacity.
The latest developments significantly strengthen KPI Green Energy's footprint in both Gujarat and Maharashtra.
The commissioning at Khavda further enhances the company's presence in one of India's fastest-growing renewable energy clusters, while the MAHAGENCO project marks the addition of a prominent state utility to its operating portfolio.
According to the company, these achievements demonstrate its ability to execute large-scale, grid-connected solar projects for major public sector utilities. With the remaining capacity of the Gujarat project yet to be commissioned, KPI Green said it remains on track to achieve the KP Group's long-term target of building a 10 GW clean energy portfolio by 2030.
