Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL), India’s leading stainless steel producer, is stepping up its game to protect the planet, pouring ₹700 crore into eco-friendly projects. The company shared that it cut its CO2 emissions by 14% in FY25, keeping about 318,000 metric tons of carbon out of the atmosphere compared to last year.
JSL is tackling sustainability head-on with some exciting moves. They’ve built Odisha’s biggest captive solar plant to power their operations with clean energy. They’re also upgrading their equipment to save energy and using digital tools to make their supply chain clearer and more efficient. Plus, JSL is giving back to the communities near its plants by supporting schools, healthcare, and job-training programs to help people thrive.
“Our first-ever Integrated Report for FY25 showcases key milestones, including a comprehensive Double Materiality Assessment and the launch of ambitious ESG targets,” said Kalyan Kumar Bhattacherjee, JSL’s Chief Sustainability Officer. The report underscores JSL’s commitment to balancing industrial growth with environmental responsibility.
For FY26, JSL is determined to keep pushing forward, aiming for even bigger emission cuts while growing its business. The company is expanding its factories to produce 4.2 million tons of stainless steel a year by FY27, cementing its spot as an industry giant.
By leaning into renewable energy and smart technology, JSL is showing how industries can grow without harming the planet. Their Odisha solar plant is a shining example, cutting down on fossil fuel use. Meanwhile, their community work is making a real difference, creating brighter futures for people living near their facilities.
