India’s aerospace dream received a major push after GE Aerospace announced a fresh investment of INR 100 crore to expand its manufacturing facility in Pune.
The latest move highlights GE Aerospace’s growing confidence in India’s aviation and defense manufacturing sector. With this investment, the company aims to strengthen production capacity for critical jet engine components while supporting the country’s “Make in India” initiative.
The Pune facility has become one of GE Aerospace’s important global manufacturing centers, producing precision-engineered parts for some of the world’s most advanced aircraft engines. The INR 100 crore investment will be used to add advanced machinery, modern inspection systems, precision tooling, and upgraded infrastructure at the Pune plant. Vishwajit Singh, Managing Director of GE Aerospace Pune manufacturing facility, said the investment underlines the company's commitment to manufacturing in India. "We are working to have good skill development, which will be a resource for the aerospace industry in India," he said.

Over the last two years, the company has already invested nearly INR 410 crore in the Pune facility. With the latest announcement, GE Aerospace’s total investment in the site has crossed INR 510 crore within three years. The company’s continued focus on India signals the country’s growing importance in the global aerospace manufacturing ecosystem.
The Pune manufacturing facility plays a crucial role in producing high-precision parts for several globally recognized jet engine programs, including GE90, GEnx, GE9X, and CFM LEAP engines. These engines power some of the world’s leading commercial aircraft fleets and are widely used by international airlines.
GE Aerospace plans to introduce advanced welding technologies and modern inspection systems to improve quality standards and increase output. Since 2015, GE Aerospace has reportedly trained more than 5,000 production associates in advanced manufacturing technologies and aerospace engineering practices.
