In a move to strengthen ties between India and Jordan, Neena Malhotra Secretary (South), Ministry of External Affairs of India met with Secretary General Daifallah Ali Al-Fayez and Ambassador Mohammed Abu Wendi, Director of Asia and Oceania Affairs at Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, during her official visit to Jordan on October 13.
The visit is notable as it takes place in the 75th year of diplomatic relations between India and Jordan. The discussions took place in a cordial atmosphere and covered the full range of bilateral cooperation — political, economic, trade, defence, cultural, and people-to-people. Both sides expressed their satisfaction with the strong partnership based on friendship and pledged to enhance cooperation in all sectors.

Regional and global developments, in particular the situation in West Asia, were also reviewed, with both sides reinforcing the need for dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful resolution of conflict. The two sides agreed to maintain regular exchanges and to hold the next Foreign Office Consultations next year in New Delhi.
During her trip, Secretary Malhotra also met with Indian diaspora members, business leaders, and cultural representatives at an Indian Embassy reception to acknowledge the significance of their role in strengthening bilateral relations. She will also meet with Fares Braizat, Chief Commissioner of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority, to discuss the Twinship Agreement between Agra and Petra.
India is now Jordan’s fourth-largest trading partner, and bilateral trade in the year 2023–24 has reached USD 2.8 billion, indicating the increasing momentum in the India-Jordan partnership and the shared vision for further economic and developmental cooperation.
