India has finalized Letters of Offer and Acceptance (LOAs) with the U.S. government for the support and maintenance of the Indian Navy's MH-60R helicopter fleet, the Ministry of Defence announced in a statement on Friday. The contracts include follow-on assistance and follow-on supply support for a duration of five years, with an overall estimated worth of ₹7,995 crore.
The ministry stated, "Sustainment support comprises a complete package that encompasses the supply of spare parts, support equipment, product assistance, training and technical aid, repair and replenishing of components, and the establishment of 'Intermediate' level component repair and Periodic Maintenance Inspection facilities in India."

The ministry stated that establishing these facilities domestically would enhance long-term capabilities and reduce dependence on the US for such assistance. "This would also promote the development of indigenous products and services via MSMEs and other Indian companies," stated the ministry.
The MH-60R is an “all-weather helicopter” designed for anti-submarine warfare, the ministry's statement noted, stating that the agreement would improve its operational readiness and upkeep. "The assistance would allow these helicopters to operate from varied sites and vessels, guaranteeing maximum efficiency throughout all their main and secondary missions/roles," it stated.
In February 2020, India reached an accord with the US to obtain 24 Lockheed Martin/Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk helicopters, with all units anticipated to be delivered by 2025.
