M.K.Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, inaugurated an international three-day aerospace and defence conference, AeroDefCon 2025, which was organized by the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), Aerospace Industry Development Association of Tamil Nadu (AIDAT), and BCI Aerospace, France, with the support of the Ministry of Defence.
The state government has set huge numbers for aeronautical and defense investments worth Rs. 75,000 crore by 2032 programme has been set. AeroDefCon 2025, taking place at the Chennai Trade Centre and is open until October 9, is said to be a place where more than 300 companies and about 1,000 delegates from 19 countries meet, and 5,000 pre-scheduled business-to-business (B2B) meetings can be held.
Recently, agreements were signed with Cochin Shipyard and Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders to set up shipyards in the state, where the investment of Rs. 15,000 crore each is planned, and the two are expected to generate 10,000 direct and 50,000 indirect jobs.
Some of the major aerospace companies in the world such as Airbus, Boeing, Dassault, and Israel Aerospace Industries, are participating along with the big Indian players like the Tata Group, Bharat Electronics, HAL, and DRDO.

Global, national, educational and research institutions, like IIT Madras, SRM University, and Anna University, all part of the development of the aerospace and defence sector in Tamil Nadu, are also engaged in the exhibition.
T.R.B. Rajaa, Minister for Industries in Tamil Nadu, said that TIDCO would set up safety, testing, and integration centers to provide the sector with new momentum and that the AeroDefCon would be held biennially, with the next edition, 2027, going even further and thus clearly establishing aerospace, defence, and shipbuilding as the pillars of Tamil Nadu’s $1 trillion economy goal.
