Defence Minister Rajnath Singh opening a national-level conference discussing the domestic opportunities in defence manufacturing. The event will be held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
With the Department of Defence Production serving as the host, the conference looks to bring the Union Ministry of Defence and the state governments of all the States and Union Territories closer. The emphasis would be on achieving the goal of a self-reliant India in defence production by standardizing the regional industrial and infrastructure policies with the national vision.
The Defence Minister will be introducing and launching the Defence Exim Portal that has the main objective of simplifying the procedures of the export and import of authorisations, and the Srijan DEEP (Defence Establishments and Entrepreneurs Platform), which indicates the capabilities of Indian defence industries, are the two big digital projects that will be unveiled by the Defence Minister during the function.
On top of this, the ‘Aerospace & Defence Sector Policy Compendium of States and Union Territories’ and the iDEX Coffee Table Book called ‘Shared Horizons of Innovation’ will be the first two publications made public.

The conference will attract interfacing of State and UT industrial departments' senior officers as they exchange views on the possible strategies that could be applied to strengthen the Indigenous ecosystem of defence manufacturing, and raise the flow of both indigenization and exports.
The production of defence in India has set new records by going beyond Rs 1.46 lakh crore and exports have gone up considerably as they reached Rs 24,000 crore in FY 2024-25 as compared to only Rs 600 crore ten years ago.
