Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has started a four-day Japan visit with a 200-member business delegation.
The visit will focus on India-Japan trade, investments, and business ties. It will also target key areas such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, clean energy, and manufacturing.
Goyal will visit Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka during the trip. The delegation includes business leaders from manufacturing, automotive, financial services, healthcare, steel, and startups.
In Tokyo, Goyal will meet leaders from major Japanese companies and industrial groups. He will also take part in a roundtable with Keidanren, Japan's top business federation. The group represents more than 1,500 leading Japanese companies. Discussions will focus on investment opportunities and stronger India-Japan trade ties.
Dedicated sessions will cover semiconductors and artificial intelligence. Other discussions will focus on startups and foreign institutional investors. The delegation aims to present India as a major investment and innovation market. It will also seek greater Japanese participation in India's growing industries.
Goyal will hold bilateral talks with Akazawa Ryosei, Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. He will also meet senior Japanese government and Parliament members. The minister is also scheduled to interact with the Indian community in Japan.

The delegation will next travel to Nagoya, a major industrial center in Central Japan. Goyal will lead a business roadshow with Chukeiren and the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce & Industry. The discussions will focus on industrial cooperation and investment opportunities in India.
The visit will conclude in Osaka with an Investors and Business Roadshow. Goyal will meet Japanese companies from electronics, industrial, and consumer sectors. The discussions will highlight opportunities in India's manufacturing, clean energy, and consumer markets.
The business delegation includes companies from several major sectors:
Officials expect the visit to provide fresh momentum to India-Japan trade and investment ties. The timing is also important for both countries. This year marks the 50th edition of the India Japan Business Cooperation Committee. It also marks 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Japan.
Jyoti Vij, Director General of FICCI, called it a significant year for both countries. She said the visit would help strengthen government and business-level engagement. The talks will also build on discussions and declarations made during the Japanese Prime Minister's recent visit to India.
With a large business delegation joining Goyal, the visit is expected to open new opportunities for Japanese investment in India. It could also strengthen cooperation in clean energy, technology, manufacturing, and other fast-growing sectors.
