India’s Commerce and Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal, will visit Berlin on October 23 to meet with government officials and prominent German companies. The objective of the meetings is to deepen trade and investment relations between the two countries.
At the meeting, Minister Goyal will interact directly with Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, Katherina Reiche, and Levin Holle, Economic and Financial Policy Advisor to the Federal Chancellery and G7/G20 Sherpa. They will discuss ways to further strengthen the economic partnership between India and Germany and explore new routes for increased trade and investment cooperation.
He is going to take part in the Berlin Global Dialogue for the third time as well. The summit is held annually and its participants are the leaders from business, government, and academic sectors, who come together to find solutions to the major economic challenges at the global level.

Concerning the business side, the minister will engage in direct talks with the CEOs of the leading German corporations. The companies will include Schaeffler Group, Renk Vehicle Mobility Solutions, Herrenknecht AG, Infineon Technologies AG, Enertrag SE, and Mercedes-Benz Group AG. Such interactions are targeted at energizing the business-to-business linkages that have been going on and will make a great contribution to the Indian program in sectors such as advanced manufacturing, clean energy, and innovation.
This journey, therefore, is not only a celebration of the 25 years of the India-Germany strategic partnership, but also the moment when India is negotiating with the European Union for a broader trade deal.
In general, the Berlin trip is about India’s willingness to make good on the diplomatic momentum with real investment inflows and diversified trade relationships.
