SATRAC Engineering Private Limited has opened South Asia’s largest trailer and truck body manufacturing plant in Sriperumbudur near Chennai, marking a major leap in India’s commercial vehicle engineering space.
The new facility, announced on February 19, 2026, covers 15 acres with 3.5 acres of covered production area and can already produce more than 800 units per month, with plans to scale further in the years ahead.
The plant is packed with advanced automation and manufacturing technology meant to improve quality and speed. It includes automated fabrication lines, high‑precision plasma and laser cutting machines from Germany, press brake systems from Canada, and in‑house shot blasting and painting facilities. A standout feature is the extensive use of robotic welding systems that boost structural strength, consistency, and overall productivity.

With this addition, SATRAC now operates two major manufacturing units in Chennai and Bengaluru, together capable of producing over 1,500 units monthly at peak. The expansion supports India’s “Make in India” initiative and strengthens the company’s ability to serve both domestic markets and exports in partnership with its Japanese parent.
Bantwal said the company plans to open more facilities every 30 months in key industrial hubs like Jamshedpur, Pune, and Gujarat, boosting regional growth and delivery efficiency.
