Suzlon Energy has secured a fresh 195 MW wind energy order from Sunsure Energy in Karnataka, pushing Suzlon’s 3 MW platform close to the 9 GW sales milestone.
The latest Karnataka project highlights the rising momentum in India’s renewable energy sector, especially in states competing aggressively to attract large-scale wind and hybrid power investments.
The repeat order also strengthens Suzlon’s position in the fast-growing clean energy market as industries increasingly shift toward sustainable power solutions.
The new project will be developed in the Bijapur district of Karnataka, where Suzlon will install 65 units of its S144 wind turbine generators, each rated at 3 MW. Apart from supplying the turbines, the company will handle project execution, commissioning, and long-term operations and maintenance services. The deal expands Suzlon and Sunsure Energy’s partnership to nearly 300 MW across Karnataka and Maharashtra.

The repeat order comes at a time when India’s wind energy market is witnessing renewed growth driven by industrial demand, green manufacturing expansion, electric mobility infrastructure, and rising investments in round-the-clock renewable power projects. Suzlon stated that cumulative sales from its 3 MW platform are now nearing 9 GW, underlining strong market acceptance of the company’s advanced wind turbine technology.
Karnataka Competes With Gujarat and Tamil Nadu in Wind Energy Race
Karnataka has emerged as one of India’s most competitive renewable energy destinations due to its strong wind corridors, industrial power demand, and hybrid renewable energy opportunities. The latest order has pushed Suzlon’s Karnataka order book beyond 2 GW, making the state a major hub for the company’s future growth.
India’s wind energy sector is currently dominated by a few highly competitive states that are aggressively expanding renewable energy infrastructure.

According to estimates from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE), Rajasthan has the highest wind power potential at 150-meter hub height with around 284 GW, followed by Gujarat at nearly 180 GW and Karnataka at around 169 GW. These states are expected to dominate India’s future wind energy investments due to favorable climate conditions and growing transmission infrastructure.
Industry analysts believe Karnataka is becoming increasingly attractive for renewable developers because of rising electricity consumption from manufacturing industries, technology parks, and commercial facilities. The state’s strong focus on green energy adoption is also helping attract private sector investments in wind-solar hybrid projects.
Suzlon’s 3 MW Turbine Platform Sees Rising Demand
Suzlon’s S144 turbine platform continues to gain traction in India’s renewable energy market as developers focus on improving efficiency and optimizing project costs. The company said the S144 platform alone secured more than 2.4 GW of orders during FY26, making it one of the strongest-performing turbine platforms in the country.
Shashank Sharma, CEO, Sunsure Energy, said, "The next generation of clean energy infrastructure will not be the one that works when the sun shines or the wind blows - it will be defined by its ability to deliver power when India needs it the most."
Suzlon executives stated that repeat orders from existing clients reflect growing confidence in the company’s execution capabilities and turbine performance. The renewable energy company is also currently executing around 664 MW of commercial and industrial renewable energy projects in Karnataka.
"Karnataka has emerged as our largest market by orderbook with over 2 GW orders from our existing orderbook, making it a top priority market for us alongside Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. The strong growth is driven by rising demand from the large commercial and industrial (C&I) segment, where wind is increasingly preferred for RTC solutions," said Girish Tanti, Executive Vice Chairman, Suzlon Group.
The latest announcement has also placed Suzlon Energy in investor focus ahead of its upcoming FY26 earnings release. Market experts believe strong order inflows and repeat business from existing clients could support the company’s long-term growth in India’s expanding renewable energy sector.
Suzlon Energy is one of India’s leading renewable energy companies specializing in wind turbine manufacturing, project development, and operations services. The company has installed more than 21.5 GW of wind energy capacity across 17 countries and continues to expand its advanced turbine technology portfolio.
