Andhra Pradesh is taking another major step toward clean energy growth as Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is set to lay the foundation stone for a ₹5,400 crore solar manufacturing facility by ReNew Energy Global plc in Anakapalli district.
The project will come up at Gajireddypalem in Rambilli mandal and is expected to strengthen India’s renewable energy manufacturing ecosystem. It reflects the growing focus on expanding domestic production of solar components while reducing reliance on imports.
The facility will manufacture solar ingots and wafers, which are essential components used in solar panel production. Once operational, the plant is expected to have a manufacturing capacity of around 6 to 6.5 gigawatts (GW). A captive power plant, estimated at ₹1,200 crore, will also be developed to ensure a steady power supply for manufacturing operations.
This investment aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s broader clean energy strategy aimed at attracting large-scale industrial projects and building a strong renewable energy base. The state government has been actively promoting investments in green manufacturing and sustainable infrastructure to create long-term economic growth.

Industry observers believe the project could strengthen India’s solar supply chain by increasing local manufacturing capabilities. As demand for renewable energy continues to rise, such projects are expected to play an important role in supporting the country’s energy transition goals.
The solar manufacturing facility is likely to be completed within the next two years. Once operational, it is expected to generate more than employment opportunities for local communities, providing a boost to regional industries and economic activity. The project may also encourage the development of logistics, supplier networks, and supporting businesses in the region.
Senior representatives from ReNew Energy Global, including founder and CEO Sumant Sinha, are expected to attend the foundation ceremony along with government officials and industry leaders.
The project highlights Andhra Pradesh’s growing role in India’s renewable sector and underlines increasing private investment in sustainable infrastructure and clean power development.
