Tata Advanced Systems has received a major supply order from the Indian Army to support the overhaul and upgradation of in-service first-generation Pinaka MLRS and Battery Command Posts.
The order was formally handed over today during a ceremony in New Delhi, marking the launch of a structured public–private partnership with the Army’s 510 Advance Base Workshop.
Under the agreement, Tata Advanced Systems will work closely with 510 Advance Base Workshop (ABW) to ensure the long-term operational readiness of the Pinaka weapon system. The program will leverage Tata’s engineering capability, access to certified spares, and coordination with original equipment manufacturers to maintain system reliability in active service.

The partnership begins with a pilot overhaul program covering select Pinaka MLRS units and BCPs, jointly executed by Tata Advanced Systems and 510 ABW. After the pilot phase, the remaining systems will be overhauled by 510 ABW of the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers, with Tata continuing to provide critical spares, quality assurance, and technical support.
Tata Advanced Systems partnered with DRDO in the original design and development of the Pinaka MLRS, a high-volume, all-weather artillery system with nearly 80 percent indigenous content. A large number of launchers supplied by the company are already deployed with the Indian Army, strengthening India’s land warfare capabilities.
The Pinaka MLRS is mounted on an 8×8 high-mobility platform and features automated shoot-and-scoot capability, digital fire control, and network-centric operations. Designed for future growth, the system can fire Pinaka Mk-I rockets and integrate guided variants with ranges up to 120 km and 300 km with minimal modification.
