Tata Power has successfully commissioned two key 765 kV Extra High Voltage (EHV) transmission corridors in Uttar Pradesh, significantly strengthening the state’s power infrastructure.
The project of the South East UP Power Transmission Company Limited (SEUPPTCL) includes the MainpuriBara line and MainpuriUnnao line, which sums up 574 circuit kilometers (CKM). Such capacity lines are essential in enhancing reliability of the grid in the northern part and ensuring a smoother flow of electricity in the entire state.
This project was developed on the resolution process of stressed power assets and had been purchased by Resurgent Power Ventures Pte Limited, which was a joint venture of Tata Power and ICICI Bank with other international investors. The corridors will facilitate evacuation of more than 3,000 MW of thermal production in Uttar Pradesh, which will support the stability of the energy supply.

The project entailed highly technical engineering methods in which approximately 42,000 metric tonnes of tower steel were utilized, approximately 6,900 kilometers of conductor stringing, and more than 100 large crossings, such as rivers and railway lines. It also traversed through forested places and it was developed following strict environmental rules. Nevertheless, Tata Power managed to finish the project in accordance with the high standards of safety and quality.
With this success, the operational transmission network of Tata Power is now at 5,312 circuit kilometers with another 1,997 CKM under construction which is only expanding its position in the Indian high voltage transmission industry.
