Reliance NU Energies, a part of Reliance Power, has clinched a significant 350 MW solar power project from SJVN Limited, a leading public sector energy company. The project also includes a 175 MW/700 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), making it a key addition to India’s growing renewable energy efforts. Secured through a competitive bidding process, the project comes with a fixed tariff of ₹3.33 per unit for 25 years, making it one of the most cost-effective clean energy initiatives in the country.
The project is part of SJVN’s ambitious plan to roll out 1,200 MW of solar energy paired with 600 MW/2,400 MWh of battery storage, all hooked up to the national grid. The bidding process was a hot contest, with 19 companies throwing their hats in the ring and demand soaring way beyond what was available. This setup ensures at least four hours of reliable power daily, helping state utilities keep the lights on. Reliance NU Energies will build, own, and run the project, following the government’s standard playbook.
Reliance NU Energies is now waiting for the official go-ahead from SJVN. Once it’s up and running, the project will boost Reliance Power’s clean energy lineup with 600 MWp of solar power and 700 MWh of storage. Hot on the heels of another big 930 MW solar win with SECI, Reliance Power now has 2.5 GWp of solar and over 2.5 GWh of storage in the works, making it a heavyweight in India’s renewable energy scene.
This project is a huge step toward India’s dream of hitting 500 GW of clean energy by 2030. With affordable, dependable renewable power, Reliance Power is helping cut carbon emissions and paving the way for a brighter, greener future for the country.
