Reliance data centre cluster plans are set to reshape India’s digital infrastructure as Reliance Industries moves ahead with building the country’s largest data centre hub in Andhra Pradesh.
The project will come up in Visakhapatnam and involves an investment of around Rs 1.6 lakh crore, making it one of the biggest tech infrastructure bets in India right now.
The company aims to develop a massive 1.5 gigawatt (GW) capacity through multiple phases, with the first phase expected to deliver about 500 MW by 2028.
The full project is likely to be completed by the end of the decade. This scale puts the project ahead of most existing data centre facilities in the country.

The Reliance data centre cluster will not be a single unit but a network of large facilities designed to support cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and data storage needs. To support operations, the company is also planning renewable energy integration, including solar power and battery storage systems, ensuring stable and sustainable energy supply.
The choice of Visakhapatnam is strategic. The coastal city offers access to subsea cable landing stations, which are critical for global data connectivity. This gives the project a strong edge in handling international data traffic efficiently.
This move also aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s push to become a major technology and AI hub. With global players already showing interest in the region, the state is quickly emerging as a key destination for large-scale digital infrastructure investments.
For Reliance, this project strengthens its position in the fast-growing data and AI ecosystem while supporting its broader digital ambitions. At the same time, the development is expected to drive job creation, boost local infrastructure, and attract further investments into the region.
