Reliance Consumer Products has just struck a major deal that could change India’s chocolate landscape. The FMCG arm of Reliance Industries Limited signed a long‑term strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Finland’s Fazer to produce, market, and distribute premium chocolates and confectionery in India.
This tie‑up was formalized during the state visit of Finland’s President, His Excellency Alexander Stubb, highlighting a diplomatic and business push between the two countries.
This deal brings together Fazer’s rich heritage in high‑quality chocolates and confectionery with Reliance Consumer Products’ massive distribution network and deep knowledge of Indian tastes. Fazer is known across Northern Europe for its confectionery, bakery and plant‑based foods, while RCPL has been aggressively scaling its presence in snacks, beverages, and sweets since launching in 2022.
T. Krishnakumar, Director at RCPL, said, “Partnering with Fazer is a strategic step towards introducing one of the world’s finest chocolates to Indian consumers.” He noted this collaboration will speed up RCPL’s growth in the chocolates and confectionery segment by combining Fazer’s global manufacturing excellence with Reliance’s local network and consumer insights.

This strategic move taps into a rapidly expanding chocolate and confectionery market in India, driven by rising disposable incomes and growing organized retail penetration. The deal signals a new wave of global brands entering India with local partners rather than going solo.
