Kaynes Technology India has entered a strategic Kaynes Technology–Mitsui partnership with Japan-based Mitsui & Co. and AOI Electronics Co. Ltd., marking a significant step toward expanding semiconductor capabilities in India. The collaboration brings together global trading expertise, electronics technology, and local manufacturing strength to support India’s growing role in the global semiconductor supply chain.
The agreement aligns three companies with complementary strengths. Mitsui & Co., one of Japan’s largest trading and investment groups, contributes global supply chain access and investment capabilities. Kaynes Technology provides manufacturing expertise and strong domestic presence in the electronics sector, while AOI Electronics adds specialized semiconductor and electronic systems expertise. Together, the companies aim to build stronger operations and technology capabilities in the Indian electronics market.
“India has the talent and the market to build a strong semiconductor ecosystem. What we need is sustained investment and partnerships to develop manufacturing scale,”said N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons.
The Kaynes Technology–Mitsui partnership is also closely tied to the company’s semiconductor arm, Kaynes Semicon, which is working to build advanced semiconductor manufacturing and packaging capabilities in India. The initiative is expected to strengthen the country’s electronics ecosystem and support long-term efforts to establish India as a global semiconductor hub.

Under the collaboration, AOI Electronics will provide advanced semiconductor packaging technologies. These include panel-level packaging and wafer-level redistribution layer (RDL) technology, which are essential processes in modern chip manufacturing. The technology partnership will enable Kaynes Semicon to deliver advanced backend semiconductor solutions to global customers across industries such as automotive, industrial electronics, consumer devices, and communications equipment.
“The semiconductor opportunity in India is massive because the country has both deep engineering talent and rapidly growing demand for electronics,” said Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson, HCLTech.
Mitsui & Co. will play a crucial role in strengthening the semiconductor supply chain. Through its global network and trading capabilities, the company will help secure critical raw materials required for semiconductor production. These include lead frames, molding compounds, die-attach materials, specialty gases, and semiconductor-grade chemicals. Reliable access to these materials is vital for maintaining stable chip production and reducing risks associated with global supply chain disruptions.
The collaboration also supports India’s broader strategy to develop domestic semiconductor manufacturing under initiatives such as Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat. As demand for semiconductors continues to grow worldwide, the partnership is expected to help create a stronger local supply chain, attract global customers, and reduce dependence on imports.
“The semiconductor industry requires long-term commitment, deep technology expertise, and strong supply chains. India is now taking important steps to build all three,” said Sanjay Mehrotra, President and CEO, Micron Technology.
Industry observers see the alliance as an important step toward establishing advanced semiconductor assembly and testing operations in India. The partnerships are expected to support Kaynes Semicon’s OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) project in Sanand, Gujarat, which aims to serve both domestic and international markets and strengthen India’s presence in the global chip value chain.
For Kaynes Technology, the move comes as the company continues to expand its footprint in electronics manufacturing services and semiconductor solutions. Strategic collaborations with international technology players are increasingly becoming a key part of the company’s growth strategy as it targets long-term expansion in the semiconductor industry.
