At World Food India Summit 2025 in New Delhi, Nestle India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI). Through this alliance, massive investments for both greenfield and brownfield projects in Odisha and the company’s existing manufacturing locations would be made over a span of 2 to 3 years.
In line with its expansion plan of ₹5,000 crore by 2025, Nestle India plans to increase local production, develop rural sourcing networks, and generate employment in manufacturing, logistics, quality, and allied services.
The company runs a total of nine factories in different parts of the country and works closely with more than 100,000 farmers, who are engaged in dairy, coffee, spices, wheat, sugarcane, and rice production.
Its products are taken to 10,000 distributors and redistributors, from which 5.2 million retail outlets are supplied. The MoU symbolizes Nestle India’s love of the country’s progressive tale and the notion of achieving a strong and inclusive food processing ecosystem by the government.
The firm is targeting to develop sound, inclusive, and future-ready food systems, besides initiating infrastructure and brands. This step is in keeping with the widespread industry trend as foreign and domestic companies have pledged an investment of approximately ₹1.02 lakh crore in India’s food processing sector during the World Food India Summit 2025.
