Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T), an engineering firm, received an ultra-mega project from Adani Power Ltd to establish eight thermal power units of 800 MW each, totalling 6,400 MW capacity. The project amounts to more than ₹15,000 crore, which equals the firm's ultra-mega order criteria.
The contract will be implemented by L&T Energy – CarbonLite Solutions (LTECLS), which is focused on advanced power and low-carbon solutions as part of L&T Group.
In a filing with the exchanges on Monday, L&T said the work includes overall design, engineering, manufacturing, and supply and commissioning of Boiler-Turbine-Generator (BTG) packages and auxiliaries as well as their associated mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.

"Reading about these dynamics in the energy sector where India's thirst for reliable, affordable power continues to increase and with this order from Adani Group further highlights our position as a partner in building the country's energy infrastructure," said Subramanian Sarma, Deputy Managing Director & President of L&T.
Adani Power, India's largest private-sector thermal power producer in terms of installed capacity (18,000 MW+) is positioning itself to meet India's baseload electricity needs, which will improve with the project. It's a deepening of more than just a business relationship; it speaks of an increasingly productive collaboration to bring L&T's engineering and Adani's focus on reliability and efficiency of energy delivery.
This project is a notable advancement in India's energy infrastructure's growth trajectory as it showcases a greater commitment to large-scale, high-efficiency power generation.
