India's E25-Compliant Cars journey is gaining pace as Mercedes-Benz India has made its entire locally produced and imported vehicle lineup ready for E25 fuel.
The move comes before the government's planned rollout of higher ethanol-blended petrol. With this step, Mercedes-Benz India aims to stay ahead of future fuel regulations while supporting India's shift toward cleaner mobility.
The launch of E25-ready vehicles reflects the company's long-term strategy in India. It also shows confidence in the country's changing fuel ecosystem.
Mercedes-Benz India believes the transition will help reduce dependence on fossil fuels and support a more sustainable automotive sector.
Mercedes-Benz India announced that every model in its portfolio now complies with E25 fuel standards. The company completed the transition ahead of the government's proposed implementation timeline. E25 fuel contains 25 percent ethanol and 75 percent petrol. Higher ethanol blending is expected to lower carbon emissions and reduce crude oil imports.
The government has been encouraging automakers to prepare vehicles that can safely operate on higher ethanol blends. According to the company, customers will not need to make any modifications to use E25 fuel once it becomes widely available. Existing quality and performance standards will remain unchanged.
Mercedes-Benz India said the move is part of its broader commitment to cleaner technologies. The company continues to invest in products that support India's changing mobility landscape.
Santosh Iyer, MD and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, said, “All cars we are selling in India from this year are E25-compliant. We have done E25 so that in case the government decides in the future, the cars are already ready.”

Along with the E25 announcement, the company shared its outlook for the luxury car market in India. Mercedes-Benz India expects the premium vehicle segment to record stable single-digit growth in the coming months. Demand remains healthy despite global economic uncertainties and changing market conditions.
The company believes customer interest in premium vehicles remains strong. New product launches and rising demand for luxury mobility are expected to support sales during the year. Mercedes-Benz India also said India remains an important growth market. It plans to continue introducing advanced technologies and premium products for Indian buyers.
The company's decision strengthens its position as India moves toward cleaner transportation. Early compliance allows Mercedes-Benz India to prepare for future regulations without affecting customers. The shift also supports the government's larger biofuel strategy. Increasing ethanol blending can help improve energy security while lowering vehicle emissions.
As India's fuel landscape evolves, manufacturers are focusing on technologies that meet upcoming standards. Mercedes-Benz India has taken an early step by ensuring its vehicles are ready before E25 fuel becomes the norm.
