One year after Operation Sindoor demonstrated India’s air power superiority over Pakistan, the country is shifting its attention to building India’s aerospace ecosystem.
The aerospace business of Godrej Enterprises Group has committed over Rs 100Cr for the next three years to accelerate innovation in the aerospace sector to strengthen India’s air power.
Maneck Behramkamdin, Business Head, Aerospace Business, Godrej Enterprises Group, commented on their plans as, “With continued investments in innovation, advanced and people capability, Godrej is well positioned to support India’s aero engine ambitions and contribute meaningfully to the global aerospace value chain.”
According to Godrej, the investment will be made across research and development, design, new product development and advanced digital manufacturing technologies. What makes this deal remarkable is not just the monetary investment but also Godrej’s capabilities in aerospace manufacturing.

The group can now manufacture all modules of an aero engine, fan, low-pressure compressor, high-pressure compressor, low-pressure turbine and high-pressure turbine, requiring high-end precision and advanced metallurgical expertise.
In 2023, Godrej also became the first private Indian company to win the order for manufacturing modules of the DRDO’s Kaveri derivative engine, which will power India’s Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV). The UCAV is currently under development, but it has the potential to be deployed in future conflict scenarios with Pakistan, making this deal critical.
Godrej also has partnerships with global original equipment manufacturers like Boeing, Safran, GE Aerospace, Rolls-Royce and RTX, and is engaged with the Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) on jet engine development. A new 100-acre manufacturing facility is also being undertaken by the group in Khalapur, Maharashtra, which is expected to serve as a significant capacity expansion hub for advanced aerospace programmes in India.
