Suzlon Group has unveiled its long-term growth strategy, “Suzlon 2.0,” outlining an ambitious roadmap to scale its renewable energy business with a target of achieving 10 GW in annual renewable energy sales and expanding its assets under management (AUM) to 70 GW by FY31.
The move marks a significant strategic shift for the company as it transitions from a wind turbine manufacturer to a wind-first, full-stack renewable energy solutions provider, aligning itself with the evolving demands of India’s rapidly expanding clean energy ecosystem.
The strategy reflects Suzlon’s intent to build a diversified and integrated renewable platform spanning wind, solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), project execution, renewable energy development, and asset management services.
While wind energy will remain the core of its business, the company is adopting an asset-light approach in solar through partnerships, enabling it to expand without significant capital burden.
As part of its long-term roadmap, Suzlon aims to build a 15 GW order book by FY31, secure approximately 40% market share in India’s wind energy sector, and generate around 3 GW in export order intake, signaling its dual focus on domestic leadership and international expansion.
To support this transformation, the company has reorganized its operations into four key verticals — RE Tech, RE DevCo, RE Projects, and RE Asset Management Services. This restructuring is designed to enhance operational efficiency, improve execution timelines, and deliver integrated offerings across the renewable value chain.
A central pillar of the Suzlon 2.0 strategy is the newly established RE DevCo business, positioned as a comprehensive co-development platform. It will support customers across critical project stages including land acquisition, grid connectivity, regulatory approvals, and project execution.
The company expects RE DevCo to contribute nearly 60% of its overall volumes over the next five years, making it a primary growth engine.
In parallel, Suzlon is strengthening its core wind energy portfolio with the rollout of its next-generation “BlueSky” turbine platform. This includes advanced, higher-capacity turbines such as the S175 5 MW and S163 6.3 MW models, aimed at improving efficiency, reducing cost per megawatt, and enhancing competitiveness in large-scale renewable projects.

In a significant expansion move, Suzlon has announced its entry into the battery energy storage systems segment, with plans to establish a dedicated BESS manufacturing facility by 2027. This initiative is expected to address one of the most critical challenges in renewable energy — intermittency — by enabling better grid stability and energy reliability.
The company also plans to scale up its engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) capabilities to deliver integrated renewable energy projects that combine wind, solar, and storage solutions. This integrated EPC model is expected to enhance project execution speed and reduce complexity for customers.
Additionally, Suzlon is focusing on expanding its asset management services business across wind, solar, hybrid, and multi-brand renewable portfolios. This will enable the company to build long-term customer relationships while creating recurring revenue streams.
Suzlon’s transformation comes at a time when India’s renewable energy sector is undergoing rapid evolution. With the government aggressively pushing toward its clean energy targets, demand is increasing for integrated solutions that combine generation, storage, and efficient grid management.
The market is also witnessing a shift from standalone wind or solar projects to hybrid and round-the-clock renewable energy solutions, where storage and execution capabilities play a critical role. In this context, Suzlon’s move to position itself as a full-stack solutions provider aligns with broader industry trends.
At the same time, competition in the sector is intensifying, with both domestic and global players expanding their capabilities across multiple renewable segments. As a result, execution efficiency, regulatory expertise, technological innovation, and integrated offerings are emerging as key differentiators.
Suzlon’s “Suzlon 2.0” strategy signals its intent to strengthen leadership in India’s wind sector while expanding into adjacent renewable segments to capture long-term growth opportunities.
