Royal Enfield ₹2,500 crore Andhra plant is set to play a key role in the company’s future expansion plans as the motorcycle maker prepares to strengthen its manufacturing network amid growing demand.
The iconic two-wheeler brand has proposed a greenfield manufacturing facility in Tada, Andhra Pradesh, aiming to expand production capacity and support long-term business growth while reinforcing its presence in southern India.
Royal Enfield, owned by the Eicher Motors Group, plans to invest nearly ₹2,500 crore investment in establishing the new facility in Tada, located near the Andhra Pradesh-Tamil Nadu border. The project, however, is still awaiting board approval and will likely be developed in phases depending on market demand and production requirements.

The move comes as Royal Enfield manufacturing capacity is operating close to full utilisation. The company currently runs four production facilities in Tamil Nadu, with a combined annual capacity of around 14.6 lakh motorcycles. With sales continuing to grow steadily in India and overseas markets, the company appears to be preparing early for the next stage of expansion.
Earlier this year, Royal Enfield had already announced an investment of ₹958 crore to expand operations at its Cheyyar plant in Tamil Nadu. Once completed, the expansion is expected to increase the company’s annual production capacity to nearly 20 lakh motorcycles. Industry experts believe the proposed Royal Enfield new plant will further strengthen manufacturing flexibility and help the company manage future demand more efficiently.
A greenfield facility in Andhra Pradesh allows manufacturers to build a plant from the ground up using modern infrastructure and advanced production systems. This could help Royal Enfield streamline operations, improve efficiency, and support future product launches as competition in the premium motorcycle segment intensifies.
The investment is also seen as a major boost for Andhra Pradesh industrial growth. Tada has gradually emerged as an attractive manufacturing destination due to its strategic location and strong connectivity to Chennai, one of India’s biggest automobile hubs. The state government is reportedly extending support for the project, including land allocation and infrastructure assistance.
Commenting on the expansion, B. Govindarajan, Managing Director of Eicher Motors and Chief Executive Officer of Royal Enfield, said the company remains focused on building stronger customer experiences while preparing for future opportunities. He noted that the Andhra Pradesh facility would further strengthen Royal Enfield’s manufacturing ecosystem and help support its growth journey.
Royal Enfield has witnessed strong sales momentum in recent years, consistently crossing major sales milestones and expanding its international footprint. The company continues to strengthen its presence in overseas markets through assembly operations and retail expansion. As domestic demand remains strong and export opportunities continue to grow, the upcoming plant could become an important part of the Royal Enfield expansion plans and support motorcycle production in India.
