Dixon-Gemtek JV puts India firmly on the optical module map for high-speed data centers and AI networks.
Dixon Technologies signed a joint venture agreement with Taiwan-based Gemtek Technology to manufacture optical connectivity products right here in India.
The partnership brings Dixon’s large-scale manufacturing strength together with Gemtek’s deep expertise in high-speed optical modules.
The new company will produce Optical Transceiver-SFP and BOSA products that power artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and hyperscale data centers.
This move expands India’s role in the global optical connectivity ecosystem and positions local manufacturing at the heart of next-generation networks.
Dixon holds a 60 percent stake while Gemtek holds the remaining 40 percent. The partners form the joint venture through a fresh equity subscription in Dixon Electroconnect, currently a wholly owned subsidiary of Dixon. Neither company acquires any stake in the other.
Dixon nominates three directors to the board and also nominates the chairman. Gemtek nominates two directors. The partners will complete the transaction by February 3, 2027, subject to the usual conditions.
The agreement follows a binding term sheet the two companies signed on June 9. Dixon Electroconnect had not started operations as of March 31, 2026, and reported nil turnover. Its authorized and paid-up share capital stood at Rs 1 lakh at the time of the filing.
