Bombardier sees a promising future for business jet sales in India, thanks to the country’s major investments in aviation infrastructure.
CEO Eric Martel shared his optimism on Thursday, noting that Bombardier jets are already operating in India, but the company faces challenges due to the country's limited airport facilities.
Martel highlighted that India is investing significantly in its aviation sector, with around a dozen new airports under construction. “The good news is that they are spending a lot of money these days. They’re building a dozen airports as far as I know, and maybe even more,” Martel said. He added that the expansion of infrastructure over the next few years will create substantial growth opportunities for Bombardier in the country.

During the same event, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney also underscored the importance of improving trade relations with India. Carney aims to reduce Canada's dependence on the United States for trade, while also negotiating tariff-free agreements with US President Donald Trump. Despite these efforts, the US market remains crucial for Bombardier, as it is the world's largest market for business aviation.

Martel emphasized that the company’s significant presence in the US with 2,800 suppliers and a defense division in Kansas is key to their growth strategy. He believes that “common sense will prevail” as both countries work toward boosting trade and strengthening ties.
