AWHCL (Antony Waste Handling Cell Limited), a major player in India’s waste management industry, has announced a significant landmark through its subsidiary Antony Lara Enviro Solutions Pvt Ltd has bagged two WTE (Waste-to-Energy) projects in Andhra Pradesh with a capacity of approximately 15MW each. The combined value of the projects is around ₹3,200 crore.
Awarded by the New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd, the projects are set to be constructed over a construction timetable of 24 months, starting from the date of concession signing, PPA execution, or land transfer, whichever comes later. Once operational, the projects would run under a 20-year concession arrangement, during which the Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) will acquire the generated power for ₹8.10 per unit. The facilities are focused at supplying the Kurnool and YSR Kadapa regions.
Each facility consists of a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) where mixed municipal solid waste will be processed prior to energy conversion. The MRF will use automated sorting and separation technologies to recover recyclable material and to separate the organics for separate processing. What remains after sorting of recyclable materials, and separation of organics, will be processed into a fuel feedstock for thermal energy conversion.

To create renewable electricity, this material will subsequently be treated in high-efficiency incinerators. The system is designed to divert thousands of tonnes of solid trash everyday from landfills, considerably decreasing methane and carbon emissions while contributing to India’s renewable energy ambitions and the Swachh Bharat Mission.
