During a recent speech, Mahindra & Mahindra chief executive Anish Shah emphasized India's potential to be a global manufacturing and electric vehicle (EV) hub.
At a trade show, Shah spoke about India's capacity to produce vehicles, especially EVs, making it a leader in a global sense.
According to Shah, the conditions for manufacturing in India are favorable, including policies, people, and supply chain capabilities.
Mahindra, according to Shah, wants to manufacture EVs in India and be a contributing force to global sustainability efforts. Shah mentioned that Mahindra's electric SUVs, like the XUV400, would be exported to other countries with growing demands for electric vehicles.

Shah also expressed optimism regarding the planned India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and the ability for India to boost exports through the agreement. The FTA would prove favorable to Indian automakers because it would create access to what might have been other markets, like the UK.
He expressed that trade agreements like the FTA will enhance India's position as a manufacturing hub and to have the opportunity to create job growth and economic development.
Mahindra is investing heavily in EV infrastructure and innovation, with plans to launch more electric models in the coming years. Shah’s vision aligns with India’s broader ambition to become a global leader in sustainable automotive manufacturing, supported by government initiatives like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.
