Epiroc, a worldwide leader in mining and construction equipment, is deepening its commitment to India with a new facility launch in Nashik, pointing out the country's strategic importance in the company's global operations. "India is central to our supply chain, manufacturing, and R&D even before, and with the new Nashik facility, it will go on to become more of a hub," said Helena Hedblom, President & CEO of Epiroc Group.
The mining and construction sectors of India are gearing up for an uptrend that will be sustained by infrastructure demand, industrial expansion, and energy transition initiatives. The government's emphasis on mineral exploration within the country and decarbonized construction has made India not only a market with great potential but also a key manufacturing hub for the global operations.
Technology-wise, Epiroc leads the mining industry to the next level. Automation, digitalisation, and electrification are, in fact, making operations more productive and safer; besides, they are also changing the industry's image, thus, attracting more young professionals and women. Companies like Hindustan Zinc are implementing to the fullest extent the newest technologies; for example, the collision avoidance system of Epiroc.

Green initiatives are still foremost on Epiroc's mind as the company continues to develop electrically powered and emission-free equipment for underground and surface operations. To complement these efforts, the organization sources skilled talent from India to operate advanced machinery, such as Asia's first fully autonomous Pit Viper drill rig.
In the future, Hedblom pictures India as a worldwide innovation center. "We are not going away anytime soon. The country will be the protagonist of the story not only in mining but also in the tech of clean energy and sustainable infrastructure, on a global scale," she remarked.
