Dilip Buildcon Ltd., one of the largest construction and engineering companies in India has won a colossal contract worth 1,115.37 crore with the Kerala Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (KICDC).
The project is an extension of the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC) project that reaches Kochi through Coimbatore and is planned to transform Palakkad region in Kerala into a busy industrial hub.
The contract is associated with the design, construction, testing, and supporting essential infrastructure in two sites in Palakkad, Pudussery Central and Kannambra. Dilip Buildcon will strive to develop the facilities to increase the connectivity, logistics, and manufacturing in the region over the next 42 months.
This is a giant move towards transforming Kerala into a hub of industries such as electronics, automobiles and agricultural processing to help India achieve regional economic development.
Dilip Buildcon shared the news in a filing with the stock exchanges, saying, "This order aligns with our commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions that drive economic development," The company also clarified that neither its promoters nor related parties have any stake in KICDC, keeping the deal transparent.
This win comes at a great time for Dilip Buildcon, which recently reported strong financial results for the first quarter of FY26. Its net profit jumped 93.57% to Rs 271 crore, thanks to smarter operations and cost management. However, its revenue dropped 16.40% to Rs 2,620 crore due to market challenges like rising material costs and some project delays. This new contract strengthens the company’s order book, setting it up for steady growth.
The stock market response was lukewarm, with Dilip Buildcon’s shares dipping 0.84% to Rs 555 on the BSE amid a shaky construction sector. Still, experts are optimistic, saying the project could boost profits, especially with Kerala’s business-friendly policies. "This project underscores the growing synergy between central and state initiatives in industrial corridors," said a Mumbai-based analyst.
Founded in 1987, Dilip Buildcon started as a road construction company in Madhya Pradesh and has grown into a nationwide leader, handling over 100 projects for clients like the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The company is now branching out into urban and industrial projects to diversify its portfolio.
The KICDC, a partnership between Kerala’s government and the central Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), is working to make the Palakkad Node a magnet for global businesses. The goal? Create 1.5 million jobs and attract Rs 2 lakh crore in investments by 2030, with ready-to-use facilities near Coimbatore’s industrial area.
