
Electronics Development Fund is driving Karnataka's startup growth like never before. The state has secured the highest share of funding under the Centre's flagship initiative.
The electronics development fund has backed 90 companies from Karnataka. This accounts for more than 70 percent of all companies supported under the scheme. The latest data was shared by MeitY in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
The numbers show Karnataka's strong position in India's electronics manufacturing and technology sector. Most funded companies are based in Bengaluru, making the city the country's leading innovation hub. The funding also highlights the growing strength of Deep-Tech Startups in the state.
Karnataka has received INR 854.5 crore through the Centre's Electronics Development Fund. This represents nearly 64 percent of the total INR 1,335.77 crore invested by eight Venture Capital Funds.

The figures underline Bengaluru's dominance in electronics design, semiconductor innovation, and technology development.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology presented these details during the Parliament session. The information was shared in response to a Lok Sabha question.

Despite these investments, Karnataka maintained a significant lead in both the number of companies and total funding received.
The Electronics Development Fund works as a Fund of Funds model. The Central Government invested INR 257.77 crore into eight SEBI-registered venture capital funds.
These venture capital funds invested more than INR 1,335 crore in 128 technology companies across India.
The supported companies have also delivered strong results.
The investment phase of the Electronics Development Fund ended in February 2024. The scheme has now entered its divestment phase. However, the daughter funds continue to monitor and support their portfolio companies.
The latest figures reflect Karnataka's ability to attract investments in advanced technologies. Strong research institutions, skilled talent, and a mature startup ecosystem continue to support this growth. As India expands its electronics manufacturing ambitions, Karnataka is expected to remain at the center of future innovation and technology development.
